In retrospect, it would be easy to dismiss Louis Prima as a mere musical clown, a trumpet-playing extension of say Chico Marx. In reality, and like that particular Marx Brother (an honorary Italian, by the way, unlike Louis), he was a consummate musician, a professional in his clowning, and a unique performer. Furthermore, he was a shrewd businessman and admired by all in the world of entertainment. Even if he were to be judged, say, relatively late in his career by his main contribution to the 1967 Walt Disney film "The Jungle Book", the wonderful song "I Wanna Be Like You", he would deserve a place in any list of great entertainers of the Twentieth Century.
