This third and final Volume in the series showcases the zenith of Boogie Woogie, an elevation to a sophisticated, multi-layered music form of Big Band arrangements which for a period through the late 1930s into the 1940s dominated dance halls on both sides of the Atlantic. With the rough edges removed and a smoother but equally infectious rhythm in place, Boogie Woogie became the preferred music of a younger generation, offering the chance to "jive" and gyrate on the dance floor in a manner hitherto taboo, an example of black American minority culture infiltrating, albeit in a modified format, the prevailing white society.
