Buddy MORROWA Big Band Buddy Studio & Live Recordings 1945 - 57

Buddy Morrow in the 1950's enjoyed his place in the
sun leading a popular, stylish dance band that made a big impression on the
popular music of the day. This success came after years of hard graft as a lead
trombonist and featured soloist. Achieving only a measure of popularity with the
public, the band needed a hit record and with the making of "Night Train" Buddy
hit the jackpot. "Shuffle Off To Buffalo", "Prelude To A Kiss", and "Speak Low"
are all well played and indicate that, even with a different personnel, high
musical standards were maintained."Shaghai" is sung by Frankie Lester, he was a
long-time member of the Morrow organisation and invariably handled the rhythm
numbers. Equally entertaining is his vocal on "Re-enlistment Blues" ."One Mint
Julep", recorded in July 1952, three months after Night Train, has the same
rhythm-and-blues feel and this successful formula characterised several more
Morrow recordings in later years. Buddy Morrow made a significant contribution
to popular dance music.
