Various ArtistsBluegrass Meets Banjo - 23 Original Bluegrass Classics
Not only did "Bonnie And Clyde" become one of the
biggest films of 1967, and subsequently a Hollywood 'classic', it also exposed
its vast audiences to the music of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs in the shape of
"Foggy Mountain Breakdown". This memorable, banjo-driven tune, used for the
recurring chase sequences in the film, had actually been first recorded by the
duo back in 1949, not long after the pair had broken away from Bill Monroe's
band. Its impact in the film was so great that it became a minor 'Pop' hit on
both sides of the Atlantic, a rare example of the 'Bluegrass' branch of Country
music to do so. Here then is presented a real taste of Bluegrass, 23 classic
recordings by artists with genuine backgrounds from the regions of America where
this unique genre of the Twentieth Century was shaped and honed to banjo-ringing
perfection!
