Wayne HORSBURGHCan You Hear Those Pioneers?
Wayne Horsburgh is an award-winning Australian-born
country artiste who began his career in the mid 1970s. His strong, melodic voice
and crystal-clear yodelling mean that he tackles with ease anything from the old
standards and gospel favourites, thru country love ballads to rocking up-tempo
numbers and the old western songs. This versatility sets him apart from most
other country singers today. Wayne has become a big favourite in his homeland
and in the USA where he has headlined some of the biggest festivals in the
business. Although he has recorded numerous albums in his long career, he has
never had a UK release until now.
"Can You Hear Those Pioneers" has been produced
specially for Wayne's 2005 UK tour and presents a cross-section of 20 much-loved
standards taken from his US and Australian albums. All the tracks have been
digitally remastered specially for this release. You can listen to Wayne's
tender treatment of Wynn Stewart's beautiful "Sing Me A Song Of Sadness", his
tributes to the singing cowboys of the silver screen in the title track and
"Hoppy, Gene & Me". Hear him swing with "Bouquet Of Roses" and "Walking the
Floor Over You" and his country-swing arrangement of "I Remember You". Wayne's
yodelling is showcased in "Rockinover River" and "Arizona Yodeller" whilst his
beautiful treatment of "September's Sweet Child" - a tribute to a new-born baby
- is a highlight of the album.
Country writer and broadcaster Paul Hazell has
provided notes about the songs and about Wayne.
